Seeking Solace (grade 2)

This piece is an adaptation of Solace Dance (grade 4). Articulation is crucial in the main thematic material. These accents and staccatos serve a stylistic purpose. The music should have a light and energetic dance-like feeling to it. Students will be exposed to accents while playing at the piano dynamic and will learn that accented does not necessarily mean louder. It may take some time for students to feel comfortable with their own part and how the counterpoint fits together.
